lots to update on but i'm going to make this an open post so i'll keep the personal stuff to a minimum.
i just finished reading 'norse code' by greg van eekhout. actually, that's a lie. i just finished writing greg a fan letter* but before that i finished the book. it is seriously good.
greg's website is here and it's pretty adorable i obviously wanted to get my grubby hands on this because of the whole norse thing and my book/short story/whatever it is but even if you know nothing about that whole mythology, it is a great read. he just took these characters that i love already, added in some new ones, placed them at the end of nine worlds and twisted. i'm jealous.
and yes, i'm aware i saw that about every book based on norse myth that i read but it still stands. i am jealous. he got to do exactly what i want to do.
i am now in a reading lull, in that i only have one book and one audiobook
on the go right now. pretty rare for me but it's nice. i don't feel as rushed.
i seriously can not comprehend that summer is here and school will be out soon. it just doesn't seem possible. i am going to be working extra hours soon and it's all a big mess right now. everything is in half plans. i guess it's a good thing that i'm a go-with-it kind of person. hopefully it doesn't interrupt my other job too much. other than that, i can wing it.
last thing: it's my big brother's birthday. he got all his gifts and party yesterday but today is the official day. we had ice cream cake. :)
*was that a bad idea? i feel strange about it. i hate sending e-mails to people i don't know.
that brings my total authors-i've-contacted up to 4. mitch clem -yes, that counts- didn't write me back, neil gaiman -wrote me back in less than half an hour!-, some guy named kyle who wrote an incredible zine -wrote me back eventually but his letters were like poems and i half fell in love with him just from that- and now greg van eekhout.
