It's Earth Day

and my husband spent the day watching Living with Ed. I now have compact fluorescent bulbs in every lamp in my house, plus all the major lights in the ceiling. Environmental activists should take note - if you hit people in th pocket book, people will change. I never thought C would make this incredible switcheroo, but in the last year or so he's been talking about getting solar panels for our house, has been recycling to the point where we generate only 1 bag of garbage per week, and tonight we had an earnest discussion about getting a wind turbine.

Seriously.

I've been researching sustainability and green stuff since I started my new job because the campus is very into it and therefore the students are very keen to find jobs that are relevant. My research has been fascinating and it makes me wonder if there is a role for me in the green economy. About the only job I can find where my skills fit is sales, and I'm not sure if sales is good fit for me. There is a graduate school for sustainability in my area, so yay, higher ed option, but I really don't enjoy admissions and if I make another move it will be out of higher ed altogether. Things that I find intriguing are renewable energy, local living, sustainable design, and developing training programs for green collar jobs. Do any of you know someone who does work in these areas? I'd love to talk to someone who works in one of those fields and see what they're really like.
