SGA.

Joe Mallozzi.

There's been a rant-y type post at sga_noticeboard  (I finally clicked on the entire flist and it showed up; it's been absolutely ages since I actually paid attention to a post there) about a quote from JM, saying, “I was inspired by my lifelong appreciation for ‘bad guys,’ and a deep-seeded disdain for heroes."

Okay, so, ignoring the awful ( Read more... )

Thanks for taking the time to read the post and for your observations. I,too, prefer my heroes to be real, flawed if you will. I think that is certainly the case with the character, John Sheppard. This was not a perfect character in any way. Since you haven't been involved in the show for awhile, I believe that most of the fans of SGA were looking for stronger development of the Sheppard character, along with the others, which never materialized.

As for the term, "deep-seeded", I am not certain if this is a typo from Gateworld, or Mallozzi simply being an idiot. All I know is that I have a 'deep-seated' disdain for his project, Stargate Universe. Flawed characters are one thing; dull, boring characters with no redeeming values are another.

Enjoyed your perspective on this. You know we SGA fans love to rant.

As I hadn't watched the ending, I felt I didn't have a place putting this on your post. Stronger development, that I get. Poor Sheppard.

Haha, this is true.

Mm, ranting. It's been a while since I've had a good SGA rant. xD

So, in other words, you prefer classic tragic heroes? ;D

And lol, I do wonder if "deep-seeded" meant to be "deep-seated".

Haha, perhaps, except for the part where the Greek classics are far from my favourites :P

I'm pretty sure it is, but as the OP above me said, it may be the writer's fault or Gateworld's fault. Either way, it just makes me think of slash porn, lolol

Lol! Oh, not that kind of classic. Just classic in the, y'know, non-capitalized sense. Like, Shakespearian tragic. (Greek tragedies are just the lulz, really.)

LOL!
