It seemed to work last time to do this, so I'm trying it again.
Getting tired of the trip? I kind of am. But in this case it was kind of important to emphasize the misery of the drive, especially on poor Chuck. For a dude who is used to travel, he's not really used to roughing it and going without the things he likes. He's more of a first class kind of traveler.
For those who haven't already seen it,
I did a not-so-quick painting of Jeffrey. If you like what he looks like, good. If you don't, imagine him looking more to your taste. I'm totally cool with that.
V-Vampy: It really makes me happy when I can get people who are jaded with my favorite genre to read it again. I agree a lot of vampire stories kinda fall into the same sort of cliches. I have a few here: The pursued human, the relentless vampire, but it's good to hear I have enough else going on to keep it fresh.
We'll see about Jeffrey and George. As you can see Jeffrey has got a bit of competition.
Wally is his sanity line. *nods*
womo: George is really just an ordinary schmo dealing with extraordinary circumstances. I think you are right, his strong points center around his tenacity rather than his intellect. And oh yes, vampires are quite sympathetic to humans. Humans are very important to them. This doesn't mean they respect them. But care about them? Yes.
Elin: I can't really imagine George falling into anyone's arms. He's more liable to faceplant painfully into their crotch.
Kanilla Maxwell: My vampires are massively overpowered. It's the only way I could rationalize them being able to take over the world. Humans aren't helpless by any means, they've systematically had their power taken away from them. One on one they might be fucked, but their systems still have enormous power to them. Chuck is more leery of the Human justice system than he is of other vampires. There is a limit to the number of humans he can brainwash.
Spoonring: Really can't tell you who George will end up with at this point. Of course, I know. But the suspense would be gone if I told you.
Luctsubasa: Jeffrey has some real advantages. He's always been relatively forthright with George even if he hasn't been with everyone else. He's consistently come to George's aid. And he's certainly the most persistent of George's pursuers. Plus he's smart, sly and funny.
ArtMonkey: George is a major feather in Jeffrey's cap. Jeffrey discovered him. So yes, he means a bit more to Jeffrey personally than he does to the others.
Nineorchids: Wow that's a lot of reading to do in one day. The humans are generally called by nicknames and the Vampires are usually called more formally. I don't think Jeff or Greg is really any more fancy than George and Wally. It's just when you call the Jeffrey and Gregory they start to sound a bit hoity toity. But yeah, you are right, I gave most of them pretty plain Jane names, because I wanted their coolness to come from what they do rather than what they are called. I have a kind of knee jerk dislike of overly fancy names just because they are used as a default cool factor so often.
Rosei: Gregory certainly has a huge ego. And Jeffrey is up to something. But no, maybe 5 more chapters at most more likely 3 or 4. I'm coming up on the end. They are almost back to Portland.
Lakuniko: Vampire fight! Yeah, it was about time I got a bit of action in this.
Azalea J: Yeah, he just merrily walked into the trap. But how do you guard against your own emotions?
Avernion: I'm guessing you figured out how Chuck was able to hit Greg with a car despite the fact that Greg was cloaking his presence from the humans in the vicinity.
Perona: Greg is a crafty guy but he doesn't get much time in the limelight. If I write a sequel it will have a ton more of Greg in it. Jeffrey does indeed have a lot of plans, but not all of them come together quite as he wants them to. Chapter 27 was rather a swing and a miss for him as he did not end up walking off with George in the end.
MustLove_PrettyBoys: Well, I've done a picture of him. You can judge for yourself if he is tough enough to be shippable. He's not that tough looking though. Kinda a pansy really.
Anyway, this is all coming along nicely. I can see the end approaching. Yea!
