Oh Merlin Fandom...

Can't any of you write something longer than 1000 words? I mean seriously, won't anyone stop and smell the fictional roses? Stick a bit of description in? A bit of build up?

You're in the Merlin Fandom? YES.

...actually, most fics I've encountered are quite long and amazing.

http://green-postit.livejournal.com/57599.html?style=mine - possessive Arthur won't let Merlin out of his sight

http://waldorph.livejournal.com/50932.html?style=mine - sequel

Drastically Redifining Protocol: AU, Arthur is Prince of Wales.

We're a Storm in Someone Else's teacup AU, Merlin meets Morgana in a Magic User Anonymous Meeting

The Crown of the Summer Court Elves come to Camelot ( ... )

LOL I can't seem to write anything under 70,0000 words.... I TRY to write short bits... I really do... But I keep doing this novel thing....

Sadly most fans like the shorter stuff... So I kind of don't post long bits like I write. It's too long for people....

NOT ME.

I want the 70,0000 word fics. Short bits are dime a dozen. Usually they are disembodied moments of fluff and angst but I want context. I want build up. I want a climax. I want a problem that can't be solved with three words.

Yeah, I'm the same way for the most part. It's so hard to find long fics. Now, I did find a SG1 Archive years ago that had novels on it http://sgnovels.shahrazad.net/. It was dedicated to long fics and connected to the "Hurt Comfort" website. And Whofic had some really long fics on it (than again, BBC produced official novels that were basically paid fanfics). But you need to search. Since I'm not sure of your fandoms currently I'm not sure if that's helpful at all.

Its nice to know there is another reader/writer who likes some meat in her story.

Oh when it comes to SGA, I lovelovelovelove Wraithbait

Actually the SG-1 fandom is amazing for it's long-fic friendliness. I've found so many 10,000 word and up fics. It's beautiful. And the quality is great as well.

I don't do this, well, ever, because I don't rec stuff I don't read.

But mercurial_wit has yet to fail in any other fandom she tries, and I doubt Merlin is the exception.

Good language, good plot and good characterization, so I'm willing to risk my neck and rec it even if I'm not in Merlin fandom. If you're a Who fan, her Master/Doctor stuff IS pretty much awesome sprinkled with sparkles.

Neat!

Oh god, I love Master/Doctor. That reminds me there are a couple of longer WIPS I've lost track of.
