Omg -- I know why FMA keeps me going where so many other shows and manga just are sort of interesting. FMA so consistantly hits my gen kinks -- and Chapter 68 is no exception -- oh my -- it just has me by the nether-bits on multiple fronts.
So what is my gen kink? Simply put -- it's personalized coersion. People being singled out and strong armed into doing things against their will. It's not a matter of simply getting rid of someone who is getting in the way, or trying to seduce someone who useful to your side, it's getting rid of their free will and moving them about like pawns because they are too irreplaceable to allow to wander freely and you don't dare take the chance they might say "no" to you.
Once again in FMA, we see Bradley reeling in Ed and Al, using emotional coersion -- specifically Winry. Even Olivia Armstrong is being politely strong-armed into proper behavior. The interplay between the victims (searching for a way out of the situation) and their aggressors threats is simply delicious to me.
On that note, I think I'm really enjoying another manga which is about as utterly different from FMA as you can get: Absolute Boyfriend.
It's utter shameless girlie fantasy: Riiku can't get a date (despite being actually quite cute) she is hopeless and desperate and feeling unloved. And in this vulnerable state (here's where my kink comes in) she is basically stalked by this mysterious company that has an offer that's just too good to be true. There is definitely a feeling that she's being singled out and manipulated from the very start -- the "coincidences" that lead her to recover a lost cell phone, the "offer" of a chance to try out their "in developement" products, the insistance on secrecy -- it all adds up to something fishy. And even Riiku senses that something isn't right -- but hey, temptation is temptation.
So they are offering boyfriend dolls (no price mentioned) for free 3 day trials. She figures, why the hell not, programs in a bunch of stuff that she'd like in a boyfriend (including unfortunately mild possessivenes -- this later bites her on the butt). The doll shows up and is eerily real -- in fact it's totally creepy, but once curiousity wins out over embarassment, she activates it, and for a while she enjoys manipulating a "man" like a puppet.
Problem is it doesn't really follow her orders, even from the start. Those traits she programmed in apparently take presidence to her orders, and even before the 3 days are up, at least to my point of view, she seems much more owned than owner.
She is a bit sloppy about the whole 3 days thing -- figuring she has to give the thing back the morning of the 4th -- wrong. The second the 72 hours is up, the company decends on her again, informs her that she's bought the doll, and that now she owes them sexual favors the right to utterly control her life. They harass her for money she doesn't have, and use her for psychological experiments. They strong arm her completely shamelessly. Meanwhile her toy flirts with all the girls in the name of "market research" but should any man look at Riiku, "he's" right there protecting his territory.
In other words, her life utterly sucks in a really fun, light hearted way.
