Anyone who watches tons and heaps or anime, or basically watches anime, would have some form of contact with KOTOKO. She's this singer who does mainly anime OPs and EDs, with the latest pair of OP and ED done for Shakugan no Shana II. Her music is mainly techno, trance and dance. So basically her music is quite upbeat.
I don't do reviews for ALL singers, since I think that's going to take a huge amount of toll on me, but KOTOKO is one of the anime singers whom I really like because her songs really get hooked on me.
Just a few of the songs that she has done:
1. Hayate no Gotoku! [Hayate no Gotoku! 1st OP]
2. Shichiten Hakki Shijo Shugi! [Hayate no Gotoku anime 2nd OP]
3. BLAZE [Shakugan no Shana II 2nd OP]
4. Sociometry [Shakugan no Shana II 2nd ED]
5. Being [Shakugan no Shana 2nd OP]
And here it is:
BLAZE by KOTOKO [Regular Edition]

CD Japan By the way, the BLAZE PV is out on Crunchyroll:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/media-297212/Kotoko-Blaze.html BLAZE MV comments: Uhh. Not that impressive in my opinion, though the setting is creative, but it doesn't help anything that I'm actually really confused about the whole MV. We have Kotoko as 2 split images singing, one wearing glasses and the other one doesn't, wearing an outfit (shown in the single cover) and singing and another one actually shows her wearing glasses, sitting at a chair while in front of her is a mini-house - that's how the single cover came about. I felt that there was more meaning to the song, (I read translations of it for the OP version) so I didn't exactly think that the MV did the song much justice. I must admit, I love her outfits though. xDD
Sociometry's MV is not out, so I can't really gauge, but hopefully it's better than BLAZE, though I highly doubt it as they come from the same single. I'm frankly not surprised if the 2 MVs are related in setting.
BLAZE comments: Nice <3 If anyone watch Shakugan no Shana II, you should know why. The starting is abit catchy, and that totally caught my attention. I loved the chorus and inserts as well, her vocal range is good too. =DD
Sociometry comments: The ending was good, I must admit. It's a nice transition from BLAZE as well, it's an ED song afterall, shouldn't be too loud. Many anime EDs end up not impressing me at all, but this one's quite different. It fit the anime well, and all in all, it's good.
Single comments: You should get this single, if not for the instrumentals, which are actually worth a listen, this pair of OP and ED is overall great. If you want a sample of how the songs sound like, watch the 2nd pair of OP and ED of Shakugan no Shana II and you'd see what I mean.
