Still writing...

Thank you, goddess47 for the yummy fruit plate :) *hugs*

So it's November, which for me for a few years now has meant writing at least 50,000 words. Unlike last year, I'm not writing a single novel. My original plan was to work on the many WIPs/ideas that I have lying on my hard drive. I'd also planned to use my vacation in the first two weeks of November to get a good head start.

In the end I spent much of my vacation working on The Sims 3 mods, which was pretty cool, and I'm quite proud of the Lifetime Wish tutorial I wrote, but it meant that I came into the second half of November with not even 11,000 words of the 50,000 that is my goal.

I've written various short to mid-length fics, which weren't even WIPs/old ideas for the most part. And one that was turned out not to work at all. But there was one thing I wanted to work on that I really love and that's the continuation of my interpretation of the John Farr verse.

My first story in that universe covered Rodney's backstory up to and including the moment he meets John. This November I finally wrote John's backstory. It's called "Hating to Engage" (fitting to Rodney's "Waiting to Engage") and I really like how different it feels to what I usually write. It's quite depressing actually (and even disturbing at times) and it ends with John at rock bottom, basically having given up on his life.

While writing that was interesting, I'm really loving "Compatibility", which is the story of John and Rodney after their first engagement. I've written almost 11,000 words so far on it, and I should actually go back to writing that now (I'm only 3,500 words behind right now, but I still need to write over 2,000 words a day to make my goal).
