We are proud to announce our guest list for the Virginia Comicon being held in
Richmond, VA on Sunday January 28th. This is the biggest comic book show in Richmond
in over 25 years! We are moving to a new location, and have a newly updated website
to assist visitors and travellers at www.vacomicon.com.
Admission is just $4 each, and only $3 if you sign up for our mailing list (or print
this email, and bring it to the show). Children under 6 are FREE! Remember, the
first 200 people through the door will get a FREE Battlestar Galactica comic with a
Convention Exclusive variant cover. COOL!

Richmond Magazine readers will immediately recognize Rob’s zany illustrations. DC
natives will remember his cartoons from the City Paper. Mini-comics fans will know
him from such work as “Grand Gestures” and “Atom-bomb Bikini”.

VCU’s Eisner Awards Exhibit!
The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, the premier awards for the comics industry,
are announced every July at Comic-Con International. The awards archives consist of
books and comics that have been nominated for or have won Eisner Awards since 1992.
The books are now be available for the use of researchers as part of VCU’s Cabell
Library’s Comic Arts Collection. A selection and display of this collection will be
held at the Virginia Comicon on January 28th, 10am-4pm.
And SPECIAL GUESTS…The 501st!
Not a publisher, but a huge organization pushing the fandom of Star Wars. Our local
501st plans to have an entire battalion of live STORMTROOPERS at the Virginia
Comicon. How cool is that?!?

Here are travelling directions. If you wish to stay at the Crowne Plaza (the host
hotel), ask for the “in-house rate”, which should secure you a hotel room for just
$89. The Crowne Plaza (888-259-8696) is the host hotel and is located 0.7 mile off
Interstate 64 at the W Broad Street/US-250 E exit (#183B). The address is: 6532 W
Broad Street in Richmond, VA. Plenty of free parking! From I-95 take the I-64 West
Exit #79 towards Charlottesville. Follow for 3.2 miles, and then take exit #183B. Go
0.7 miles to hotel.
On a final note, the co-sponsor of this event,
Brett’s Comic Pile will be hosting a
“by reservations only” sales event the day before the show (Sat, Jan 27th from
1pm-9pm). Every comic in our warehouse will be 50 cents each, or $59 for a short box
full, or just $99 for a long box full. We will have over 200,000 comics to choose
from from every major publisher dating from 1970-2006. This sale will be held the
day before the Virginia Comicon at our warehouse 5 miles East of the show. If you
