Nothing we encounter is so bad that God can't bring good out of it sooner or later. Merry Christmas to you and Karysha, and may your present woes be turned to joy.

Ouch! That's one of the reasons why I've been so reticent about upgrading ZoneAlarm. I've heard of a lot of problems with it lately.

If something "drastic" happened to the operating system, just reinstall it, but don't reformat the harddrive. If the problem is just with the operating system, a reinstall will just replace the system files with what's on the OS media, and can be done without wiping the harddrive, so you can view your mass of files like before. If it matters to you to have a fresh, clean install, then reinstall it without a format first, make your backups, then reinstall it again with a format.

He speaks the truth...always try to re-install Windows before you re-format.

That aside, I'm so glad to hear from you again, VR! I'm glad your move went well and all. (I must have forgotten you were moving...@.@)

Thanks for the advice, Ash. :-)

I'll give it a try, once I find my Windows CD in all of our moving boxes, and let you know how it works out. If it does, you'll have saved me a few hundred dollars. ;-)
