cherry-charcoal milkshakes

Jan 21, 2001 23:54

mar was inspired to write this song/poem by a post her ex-boyfriend posted to a message board.

she doesn't have a definite melody, but it's punky screechy. unfinalized, unfinished.

This song/poem is for anyone who has ever been stared down by an Emergency Room doctor and told they aren't normal.

For everything exists a counter
You know this
Candy cinnamon hearts

Then there's cherry
Cherry-charcoal milkshakes
(bottled up)

Warm it up
Shake it up
Drink it down
Cherry-charcoal milkshakes

I used to draw
With this crap
Like dirt enlaced
With Dimetapp

Cherry and charcoal milkshakes
(through a straw)

The opposite of hot
Yet the opposite of ice
It may grow on you
But it's opposite of nice

Barbecues are no more fun
Just like that night I came undone
warm it up, shake it out
That's what living's all about

Cherry-charcoal milkshakes
(with no milk)

she forgot the oreo and first-date part. oh well. for someone wearing a nightgown printed with little kitties she sure knows a lot about continental drift.
