I bought my house in late September, so I pretty much had all winter to pretend the garden wasn't there and concentrate on getting the indoors in order.
But, since it's already May, this little journal does have some catching up to do.
October
While everything else was starting to die off, the tree in the front yard busted out in flowers. Odd ones. With berries.
I still have no idea what kind of tree it is, the flowers lasted until sometime in November. It lost all its leaves over the winter, and they've just started to come back in the past couple of weeks.
January
Flowers! In January!
The climbing plant on the south gate was covered in small pink flowers. They lasted less then a month, and I've lost track when the leaves returned, but
it's been green ever since (and recently became aphid-free!)
April
Tulips! Tulips everywhere! The previous owners must have really liked tulips. Red and yellow ones around the
patio, in the
back corner bed, along the street, and a few rogue ones popping up randomly. They arrived in late-March early April and lasted into early May.
Next I'll catalog what I've planted in recent weeks and map out some plans for the summer.
