Hello everybody!
I'm back from visiting my parents for the holidays and... oh wow, I had a wonderful time at home. It was soooo great seeing my family again, my brother (he hadn't changed a bit), my sisiter-in-law (neither had she) and especially the two kids.
I hadn't seen them for more than a year, and you know how fast kids grow up nowadays, but I was very pleased to notice that the two of them were much the same still.
My nephew (he's eleven now) is still calm, a bit reserved, but clever and well-behaved (is that the right word?). He didn't make a lot of noise like other kids his age do, he was interested in many things and he was pretty easy to talk to.
He wanted to stay up late in the evenings but didn't make a fuss when he had to go to bed, he didn't disturb us early in the mornings, he didn't pester us with annoying requests ("will you play with me?")... nothing!
He was seriously amiable and I loved having him around.
And my niece? Well, she's your typical fifteen-year-old teenager... sleeping till noon, spending more time in the bathroom than anywhere else, checking her make-up and complaining about how bad her hair looks. She spent her time writing sms to all her friends, watching "Titanic" on DVD, quarreling with her little brother and annoying her parents to no end.
And at night, when we'd gone to bed (she had to sleep in my room with me), she infected me with her teenager-behaviour and we'd lay in bed in the dark, gossipping about school, teachers and boys, giggling and laughing about the most stipid things.
She made me feel like a kid again. And... I liked it.
I had a wonderful time at home and I don't regret having met not one of my former friends. I feel a bit bad about not contacting any of them now, but right then I couldn't care less. I was too busy enjoying time with my family.
And it was over too fast but I'm also happy about being back at my own home now.
So today I have the whole day for catching up here, reading all those wonderful Secret Santa Stories at idontdance (and I finally posted mine, thank god) and having an overall lazy and fabulous day.
That's about all I wanted to say, so now I'll go back to reading!
Oh, and in case I won't find the time to post another entry this year:
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! I HOPE 2009 WILL BE GREAT FOR ALL OF US!
general ramblings,
christmas
