I did some research for my story "A Fortnight Of Smiles" and in the process had to re-watch the episode "Bad Blood" (3x10). You know, the one where Guy's and Robin's shared past is revealed.
I was looking for details about the fire and Ghislaine's death.
But before I got that far I stumbled over another detail and it bugs me to no end. I realized (and maybe I already did so before but forgot about it again, I don't know), I realized that both of Guy's parents, Roger and Ghislaine, have dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Brown eyes, both of them. How can that be? Or better... how can Guy have blue eyes if both his parents have brown eyes?
I think I remember enough from biology lessons in school (long time ago, but still) to know that that shouldn't be possible. Wasn't brown dominant and blue recessive? So brown x brown = brown. Not blue. It's not possible.
Or am I mistaken? Was it the other way round? Is blue dominant? Then it would be possible I think.
Damn, it bugs me. Now I have to know for sure. I'll have to waste time looking it up when I should be concentrating on finishing my story!
I hate this! But I can't go on not knowing for sure. I'm weird like that ;-)
EDITED: Okay, I looked it up. It's possible. Guy's parents both had brown eyes but they still had the "blue recessive gen" if their parents gave it to them. Brown is dominant, that's why they have brown eyes even if one of their parents had blue ones. So Guy inherited both recessive blue genes from his parents and therefore he's the one fourth that got blue eyes while three fourth would get brown eyes.
What color of eyes has Isabella? Okay, stop! I won't go into it any further. It's possible, it's all that matters. I need to concentrate on the story now.
