Another piece of brilliant writing that I'm really proud of:

"Marian was like a puzzle with so many missing pieces that he couldn’t for the life of it figure out what the complete image was supposed to look like. But Guy knew without a doubt that, once put together, the image would turn out to be beautiful beyond belief."

An excerpt from Chapter 12 of my story "A Fortnight Of Smiles". The title sucks, or well... it doesn't suck but it just doesn't fit anymore. That story has run in a completely different direction than I had initially intended and so the title as well as the summary are in need of editing. But I guess that'll have to wait till it's finished, which could take a while. That baby of mine is rapidly expanding beyond anything I had ever imagined.
I'm having so much fun writing Guy and Marian and Allan. Allan most of all, he's just so... great. I love him. And Marian, my version of her I mean, has really grown on me. I didn't like her at first, I didn't understand her. But now I seem to have shaped her into something I (and others according to the wonderful reviews I got) can love.

Anyway, enough of that.

Today I finally managed to get my parents hooked on the great BBC version of Elisabeth Gaskell's "North & South". They've had the DVD's for more than three weeks but never came round to watching them. So today, when I visited them and after we'd had coffee and my mom was sitting there folding the laundry, I just popped the first DVD in and started it.
We watched the first episode together and I'm pretty sure that my mom got interested enough to want to watch the rest this evening.
So, mission accomplished.

The only drawback is that I now have John Thornton in my head and I need to think about Guy of Gisborne. Damn!
