Hello again,
I'm back from my Christmas vacation and I have to work later today (don't want to). But first of all let me tell you a few things.
Christmas at home was nice. A bit busy, a bit too short (I'd have loved to stay another day), with lots and lots of good cake and food (except the dinner last night gave me trouble but now I'm feeling better again), and lots of playing games with my younger nephew and niece.
My elder nephew... well, lets just say I wasn't too surprised by learing that he'd started smoking a few months back. It was to be expected. He'd always been fascinated by smoking, ever since he was little he'd come outside with us, watch us smoke, ask why we do it, how it tastes... it was only a matter of time that he'd try it himself. And he's 15 now (a bit young, but so were we), so... his parents know, forbidding it doesn't work, what are we to do? Nothing.
I didn't encourage him but I also didn't say anything against it. It's not my place. He'll realize that it's a bad and very expensive habit soon enough.
Okay, on to the next topic: Downton Abbey
Our whole family discovered that wonderful TV series on Sunday (when the first two episodes were on German TV), and we were all devastated when we realized that we wouldn't be able to watch episodes 3 to 7 (because they were shown on the first and second day of Christmas and we'd all be too busy with family time). So we organized the taping of those episodes very shorthand and I really hope it worked.
I'm going to watch the entire series as soon as I find the time but for my parents's sake I hope the taping works. It's not very often that there's something on TV that everyone loves. Even my dad was enjoying it!
A propos TV series: I've just watched the Merlin finale and I have to say: "Okay, it wasn't as bad as I'd feared." They managed to get the magic reveal quite right. There was much alone time for Merlin and Arthur and so they got to talk it out. All in all, it was good. Although, there were two deaths I thought they wouldn't go for. But they did. Well... but that final scene... I laughed out loud. When that truck rushed by... oh my!
Now I'm about to watch the Doctor Who Christmas Special. At first I wanted to wait till tonight after work, but I have enough time now and then I can start with Downton Abbey tonight.
Guess I'll edit this post later, when I'm finished.
EDIT: Okay, now this was... brilliant. Everything I'd hoped for. Funny and heartbreaking, mysterious and clever, lovely and leaving you wanting more, now. But I have no idea when Doctor Who will be back. I only know that it's gonna be fantastic. God, I love this show!
