Fandom Music Meme
Because I am bored (okay, not really. I'm enjoying my unexpected day off, I really do.) I started cleaning up my youtube playlists. And I realized that ever since I got involved in different fandoms I've discovered tons of bands and artists that I never would have found otherwise. Music that most people don't know and wouldn't expect me to listen to. Songs that, in my head, will forever be linked to a fandom, a ship, a character I love.
So, because I've wanted to do this for a while and now I've got the time, I came up with a meme. A fandom music/fanvid meme. It goes like this:
Pick fandoms that you're involved in (currently or past, doesn't matter) and that you, in your head, link to music because of some youtube (or other host) fanvids:
1. First song/vid you found
2. THE PERFECT song/vid once and forever
3. A different song from the perfect song's artist/band that has nothing to do with fandom but that people really should listen to
4. Three other top songs/vids for this fandom by another artist/band
My fandoms are: Supernatural and Sherlock for now. I will add Merlin, The Vampire Diaries, Heroes and perhaps even Dawson's Creek later.
Supernatural
1. First song/vid you found
"I won't give up" by Jason Mraz (though it was kind of the other way round. I discovered the fandom because of this song, but still... this is the first song I linked to Dean/Cas)
2. THE PERFECT song/vid once and forever
There are so many but if I have to pick one it's gonna be "Remember Everything" by Five Finger Death Punch. This video tells the story of Dean and Cas so perfectly, it leaves me speechless every time. I especially like this part: "You say that I'll never change but what the fuck did you know?" and we see all the different faces of Castiel ( like future!Cas and Leviathan!Cas and Emmanuel!Cas). The vid is very well done and the song is... I really like the voice of the singer.
3. A different song from the perfect song's artist/band that has nothing to do with fandom but that people really should listen to
I have to admit that I haven't checked out much else yet. From what few other songs I've listened to I can tell that it's not really my style. Too heavy metal I guess. But maybe I'll find a song that's - dare I say it? - a ballad like Remember Everything. I'll

"Must have done something right" by Relient K. Maybe it wasn't exactly the first song I found but it's the first I remember watching a video over and over to. That vid doesn't exist anymore, too bad.
2. THE PERFECT song/vid once and forever
It's a tie. Seriously, I can't decide which one fits better: "Arms" by Christina Perry or "The Best Thing" by Relient K. You pick one, I can't. Sadly enough I only managed to create a very short vid to The Best Thing. Both songs capture perfectly what I love most about Sherlock's and John's relationship (or what my shipper-heart wants).

Of course you all know Christina Perry's "Jar of Hearts" and I really liked it, before it was played too often and I got sick of it. Relient K has great songs as well but I like "The Best Thing" the best.
