Yeah, a bit belated.
Emma learning magic from Regina? Yes, do want. Interesting bit about channeling from anger. Given the general tone and structure of OUaT, I'd say Emma will learn that of course anger isn't the only way to do magic. If Regina goes full on redemption, I wonder if she'll have a Zuko style epiphany about drawing from other sources.
I love Snow telling Emma about Neal immediately! Yes, Snow, be smart. I was surprised that Hook told Snow and David so quickly, though he did want to keep it from Emma.
David continues to annoy me. He's really comfortable with deception and lying to the people he loves. Maybe "David Nolan" was closer to his real self than he'd like to admit. Nice to see, however, that Snow wasn't happy with all that he had kept from her.
For the longest time, I was wondering the Ariel plotline had to do with the storyline I actually cared about. I got my answer at the end, but it still felt kind of unnecessary. Like, Regina and Gold needing someone who could cross worlds, and mermaids being able to do that was inserted to prop up Ariel's introduction, as opposed to Ariel being introduced because the plot needed her. Maybe if I cared more about Ariel being on the show, I'd feel differently.
One thing I really like about this show is how important family relationships are and how many of them there are. And yet, the show still feels pretty romance obsessed to me. Like, the first thing Snow asks Ariel, the first thing we learn about her, is who her true love is. A guy she doesn't even really know, by the way. I don't mind romance. I like romance. But it feels a bit overbearing here.
The Regina and Rumpel stuff was super interesting. I've been kind of bored with Rumpel this season. The stuff with Neal was good, but I was tired of watching him mope with imaginary Belle. We seem to be done with that. And while Regina and the Charmings had tons of potential, the writers weren't doing much with the situation. (What would I have done for some really meaty Snow and Regina stuff? I would have done a lot.)
Regina and Rumpel related to each other like equals here, which was interesting. Normally, he has the upper hand.
Really glad to see Neal owning up to the terrible way he treated Emma. Before I felt that the show was kind of letting him off the hook for that.
