Rain
by Kim Chôngnan

From which heaven did you return
my bird of loneliness
the sound of building house
between flesh and flesh
without pain

A woman weeping or not weeping, leaning her head
against the window of that house

She is like me or like my elder sister

A bird--lingering bird
with wet wings
like my elder sister
like myself until dawn

Translated from Korean by Peter H. Lee
