This is a program in Massachusetts which was profiled on Dr. Phil today. This woman built a whole intergenerational therapeutic community for foster kids and their adoptive/foster parents.
Treehouse was established in 2002 by a foster/adoptive parent with a vision: to improve conditions for children in our public foster care system and the families and communities who care for them.
The mission of Treehouse is to help children in care find new hope and new beginnings through the development of programs, practices and partnerships that address fundamental issues of foster care and foster care adoption.
We are working to do this by building model programs that provide children with enduring fmaily relationships and supportive community connections. This includes the development of innovative statewide programs as well as special pilot programs in western Massachusetts and Boston.
Since it began, Treehouse has garnered the support of policy makers, leaders in the private and non-profit sectors and a host of other supporters and volunteers.
