For those following the Aiko/stray kitty story: She went back to the vet yesterday for her follow-up FIV/FeLV test. Unfortunately, she was pregnant, FeLV positive, and had lost half a pound (i.e. already deteriorating from FeLV). We had to put her down. We knew this was a possibility but it is still pretty sad.
To make matters worse: Gretl snuck onto the porch where Aiko was quarantined and was in there for about 8 hours over Wednesday night. So, now Gretl has to be quarantined for a month to make sure SHE is not infected. I don't think she and Aiko had much direct contact, and Gretl is a lot healthier to begin with, so I'm remaining hopeful. Gretl is supremely pissed off about this development. It's going to be a long month.
