Does anyone else watch that Martha Stewart cooking show on PBS, Everyday Food? I have a love-hate relationship with the show-- the recipes are reasonably good and easy, but they are just so relentlessly CLEAN and PERFECT and TIDY and MARTHA. I mean, the hosts regularly wear white shirts to cook. The best was the other week when one of them was making meatballs (in a white shirt) and said, barely disguising her dread, "we're going to have to get a bit messy now!" GOD FORBID you get messy while cooking! Shameful!
Unrelatedly, I have just embarked on step one of Project Powerbook Upgrade: ordering a gig of new RAM. I also plan to buy a replacement battery, as mine is now close to 4 years old and has a useful life of about an hour. I did briefly entertain the notion of just buying a new MacBook, but seeing as how I am trying to REDUCE and not INCREASE debt, I rejected that idea. I'm a little afraid the whole thing will go down in flames shortly after this upgrade forcing me to buy a new computer anyway. Which, I guess, would have a definite silver lining.
