So I keep meaning to post but end up being too busy

And then somehow it's several weeks later.

...and now it's a few hours later from when I started typing and I still haven't gotten much farther than a line. So that's how it happens :p

Work: Busy as usual. I've saved the day a couple of times with my spreadsheets; as usual, nobody cares overly much. Had Commission Day fall on Refund Day but I avoided going insane, and got everything out ahead of schedule...to find we had no postage. Ah well, I did my part. :p While reviewing insurance plans for open enrollment month we did discover an issue with the dental insurance deductions that have been taken out of my paychecks for the last...oh, good long while. So I'm getting a refund check for around $800 at some point in the future, and we can get me set up on the right plan going forward...yaaay money. *dancydance* Totally not sure what I should do with it, though. Don't I go through this every time I get large sums of money back? Hmmm. Will probably do what I did to the tax refund, put some onto the card and save the rest for more account cushioning.

Speaking of cushions, I COULD use some of that money to buy an actual couch. Hmmmmm.

Have been really good about keeping the front rooms tidy, not so much the bedroom. I think I get halfway done and run out of energy. One of these days I should just get on with it and put the computer desk where I'd originally planned for it to go, give the floor a good sweeping and throw out or give away the clothes I don't want anymore.

Speaking of clothes, I COULD use some of that money to get new stuff that makes me not look like a hobo. Hmmmmm.

Got clearance to take off the week of July 25th-29th, partly in honor of my mom and her husband's impending visit, partly because ohgod real vacation :o - won't have to worry about who I'd wake up with an early morning alarm, would have plenty of time to show them around for the few days they'll be here, may use the time to do something productive, not just play computer games all week. Doubtful, but may ;) What will I feed them? Where can I show them? This place is so boriiiiing.

Saw Dzian! on Saturday as they were starting their tour here in town. Had been worried that the rain that had been pouring all evening would stop me from going, but it ended up clearing up just a half an hour before I was to leave, so, yay. :) The place was nice, but quite pricey, and it was one of those types where the salad is separated by vegetable, the carrots are teeny tiny slivers and the whole thing is glazed with some heritage authentic organic buttermilk concoction, as opposed to, say, Ranch. I'm so plebian ;_; The band had a few new songs, and lots of old ones, all of which I enjoyed (and the screechy graty one which I did not enjoy at all x_x) and all in all it was a very nice night out. They make decent amaretto sours, too - touch of lemon, which is an interesting addition. Lots of luck to Dzian! on their tour! :p

Greek Festival - went on a whim last week, had a great time, got super sunburned and it's only just now healing up (and itches like craaaazy >_<) because I got lost. And lost. And lost again. Part of that is not my fault, though, the directions were a street off and like an idiot I followed them longer than I should. Eventually after 45 minutes of cycling around town (I didn't realize Mojo's was so close! :D) I was about to give up, started looking for a street that would take me back to Broad (and to some restaurants for lunch, since I'd planned for food at the festival). Saw Strawberry St, that takes you right to Arby's, turned on it...and it intersected the very street I'd been hunting for. o_O From that point on I had no trouble at all finding the rest of the way. Had a Souvlaki wrap, fries drenched in salt, a vastly overpriced cup of lemonade and Galaktobourekos, browsed the marketplace and saw some really cute rings, scarves and urns but didn't buy anything in the end. Saw a dance troupe perform, the guy setting the beat was such a showoff it was hilarious. He'd do some kind of tricky hop, and a couple of the dancers would very slightly grin, roll their eyes and shake their heads. Was nice to get out and about, get a little (lot of) sun, get a little (lot of) exercise. And a HUGE Slurpee for less than half the price of the lemonade for the ride home. >:P
