A travesty for sure!

You know what I'm betting is going to come out of this whole Disney-buys-Marvel deal?

Better advertising for Marvel products.

EVERYTHING ELSE? BUSINESS AS USUAL.

Warner Bros acquired the rights to DC's film properties and I've yet to see Batman taking off after Joker, Coyote-Roadrunner style. I'm just sayin'.

Although, as glockgal prompted, I ( Read more... )

Thank you for this. My mind boggles at the explosion of "OH NOES, MARVL AS WE KNOW IT IS DED!!!" posts I've seen today, and it's nice to see someone viewing this merger with, what's the word? Oh, yes. Rational Logic. And I think I'd kill if we got a decent Marvel animated series out of this. Something from the Marvel Adventures universe, maybe?

Yeah, a lot of the outcry I'm seeing seems to view Marvel as some sort of beacon of consistency and wise ideas. I mean, I certainly like the characters well enough, but it's like, "Woe! Disney will stifle Marvel's creativity!" which are you kidding me, the company whose go-to when the creative well runs dry is either Skrulls or zombies? Well, and the threat of tentacle rape.

I just- augh. This is so not the first time Disney's acquired a company or a studio. It most certainly won't be the last. And each time, it's proven to change pretty much nothing about those properties, if it changes anything at all, aside from where the money flow comes from and goes to. Oy.

*nods* Current Marvel canon is generally so full of angst and woe and fail that I almost wish that Disney would come along and stifle their "creativity". Because I actually wouldn't mind having some well developed plots for a change, instead of just two keywords tossed in amongst a dozen explosions and three main character deaths. (Though it's just possible that I simply don't understand such brilliant plots because I'm a girl and those with no penis don't read comics anyway.)

Dude, how are you even on the internet? *peers suspiciously* You're a guy, aren't you? TITS OR GTFO.

(Hell, I love angst and wibbling and woe as much as the next fanthing, but when a storyline--or storylineS--just won't let up, after a while it just gets to be like, "Okay how long do I have to subject myself to this?")

*looks down shirt* No, I think I'm good.

(Yes, this! I need to be given even a shred of hope every once in a while or the angst just becomes utterly soul crushing. I mean, how much fun is the hurt when you never get the comfort?)
