Screen your commitments

My Mom has been dropping hints for years that she and my Dad would use the porch off of their bedroom more if it was screened in and, well, my brothers and I decided that we would do it for her for a Christmas gift. It has been almost two years and we are just now getting into the thick of things. We have been working in batches (as Jeff lives in St. Mary's county and Jason works weekends sometimes) and in the three times we have managed to work we have set everything up to be ready to screen. This past Sunday, Jason and I actually put screen to porch. I have to say that it was a lot more difficult than I thought!

First, my parents porch is on the second floor of their house and we only have a straight ladder that will reach that height. So there I am, perched on the side of my parents house on a Sunday hoping that I won't die and pushing my shoulder muscles to their breaking point as I reach to spline the screen. My brothers and I didn't think that splining would be so hard, but I guess that means the job will last. We had hoped to get it mostly finished and only managed to get one panel done! Oh well, maybe we will get it done before this December.
