I had a dream about a boat...

But that's not what I'm writing about :)
Today I went to Ikea and bought some new furniture. I got this cute little dark gray chair, a teeny black ottoman and a 4 drawer dresser for my closet. I had to get one of the workmen to watch my stuff while I got my car because I went by myself, and then I had to get him to practically load the car up by himself, and he spoke like no English. So he would say "Open" and point to the trunk or car door, or he would say "La" and point to the seat and I'd have to ask "Forward or Down?" with accompanying hand motions, but we got it figured out in the end. Anyway, the whole scene reminded me of Weeds, when the Botwins move to Ren Mar (which is essentially South San Diego) and Andy and Doug go to Home Depot to learn about becoming Coyotes, and then I felt like I was being racist, because the show was being racist. So then I tipped the guy and went home.
Later I built my chair and ottoman and left the dresser in the car because it weighs 60 lbs and my building's elevator is broken, and Cameron is in Catalina and the other guys I know have "jobs" or whatever. Also maybe I kind of might want to play at being a self-sufficient female a little while longer. So I built my chair and ottoman and not 10 minutes later the cat had taken over the chair. I was like, "I see how it is." And he was all, "Blink" So I lost that battle. But he finlly got off and now I'm sitting in my adorable chair that I built myself, with my feet comfortably resting on my ottoman, also built with my own two hands. And across from me is the bookcase I put together over the weekend.
The bookcase, you see, is extra special. I went to Target, bought my bookcase, over the door towel rack and two trash cans, came home and set everything up. I put the bookcase together and stood it against the wall, and thought, "Hmmm... maybe the black painted side should not be facing the floor on the bottom, but instead should be the surface on which one might put books." You see I had screwed and nailed the bottom of the bookcase upside-down. I shrugged and thought, "That's no big deal. It's not like it's hurting anybody." Flash forward to yesterday, where I am sitting on the floor prying tiny nails out of the cardboard backing with needle nosed pliers so I can flip the bottom of the bookcase over to the right facing direction. Now its perfect. Just dont look at the wall facing side.
So now I'm sitting in my chair, with my feet up on my ottoman, thinking about walking to Los Primos to get some Carne Asada fries and wondering when Cameron can help me get that set of drawers out of my car. And also that I might have a job soon... that might be worth mentioning.
As you know, I interviewed with Applied Interventions and Methodologies last Tuesday. Today they called me to say they were checking my references, but that two out of the three they had tried had not called back. I told them I'd get on that and I immediately sent emails to those who had been left messages. Hopefully, this means that they will get back to AIM and then they can give my info to the hiring department and then they can call and offer me a job. Then I can make money. That would be nice.
