Pay attention to your phone/internet bills!

Recently Serge and I took off our home phone line, and the past two months we've only been getting charged for DSL (about $20). Well, you know how these places have like extra charges for stuff, so I didn't think about it when our bill was around $35 the last couple of months. Out of curiosity, I looked at our most recent bill and we were getting charged $14.95 for some outside source for an email account thing. I almost spit out my coffee. WTF! So anyway, I called Bellsouth this morning to find out how long these charges were being placed on our account. 13 bills. That's $194.35!!!! They gave the the number of the company (Residential Email), so I called them immediately to get my phone number removed from their records, and to get my goddamn money back for the past year. It turns out, the name on the account with that company was somebody I didn't even know. Basically, they used my phone number so they wouldn't be charged for it (or they just put in a random number not even knowing it was a chargable service). I am fuming. Moral of the story - if you think your phone/internet bill is too high, look at ALL of the charges on your bill.

Luckily, with all the money these people owe me we probably won't have to pay our Bellsouth bill for a while! It just depends on when we actually get it refunded to our account.

In other news, we're down to 4 apartment complexes: Arbor Landings, Randolph Court, Pine Valley and Village Green (in order of desire to live there). Arbor Landings has a little over 1000 square feet for their smallest 2 bedroom, and a reasonable pet fee. Randolph Court has a ridiculous pet fee (50 bucks/mo, assholes) but no one is living above or below you, only to the sides. Pine Valley has better prices on apartments AND only a $20/mo pet fee. Village Green would be nice except you have to like cut through the neighborhood over a busy street to get to the bus stop. I think the idea of a monthly pet fee on TOP OF the deposit (which is in some cases not even refundable) is absurd. I can understand for a dog because they piss and shit everywhere more often than other animals. But my cats are over 2 years old and use the litterbox, they do not piss and shit everywhere, and they are fixed. We've decided that we are going to bring them and not live at the school's apartments. They are our family, whether that sounds silly or not. They're my furry babies and I love them too much to leave them behind, even if they'd be in excellent care (my mom, and Corey).
