I finally got around to doing a little tribute to our boy, or his kitty anyways!
I'd always wanted to make a Bubastis hoodie (I make Pokemon ones on commission), but the stripes seemed daunting, since anti-pill fleece won't take to textile paint well, and airbrushing would eventually wash off.
I found the answer to this dilemma on eBay, a purple hoodie from Hot Topic that already had tiger stripes on it and a hood that zipped off! I actually bought two of the hoodies, thinking I'd need to cut up one to make ears and a tail, but it turns out I had matching faux fur in my fabric stash!
The ears and tail are made from a really nice 1" pile purple faux fur with a black base, so the stripes are simply shaved into it, and the ear tips, tail and sewn-on cheek/beard tufts are 2.5" purple fox fur that I tipped with a lighter lavender/lilac with thinned acrylic paint.
The face details/eyes are machine embroidered, and I re-lined the hood with soft black anti-pill fleece. The tail has armature wire in it to give it shape, and like the hood, is removable for washing!
This hoodie was made for myself, but I do have the materials to make another one like it, in a men's size medium (fits more like a small, the same size I'm wearing in these pics, and I'm a female and around a size 10-12).
Just wanted to share, thought this community would find it relevant to their interests. XD
