It was another peaceful day in the life of the Kaidoh-Keehl household, or, rather, the Kaidoh-but-Keehl-sleeps-on-the-couch household. That sounded better.
Mello was flopped on the couch of Kio’s apartment, hand clutching his gun protectively, finger on the trigger, and wearing nothing but the fleece blanket that he had commandeered from Kio’s bedroom. Kio, the rightful owner of the home and all the possessions within it, was slumped in the Lazy Boy recliner, bored out of his mind. There was nothing on TV, no inspiration left to draw, no lollipops to suck on, and hardly any money to just go out and have a good ol’ time. Or a Soubi to pester, the jerk had taken Ritsuka and his other two kidnapped kids--Youji and Natsuo?--to some carnival in Nara, not even asking Kio if he wanted to come or even telling him about it in the first place; the only reason Kio knew was because Soubi decided to be nice and leave him a message while he and the kids were on the Shinkansen.
Damn sexy obsess-able bastard…
Kio sighed and pushed up his glasses, then looked over at the sleeping, scarred blond on his couch. Soubi wasn’t the only one to disappear for days on end; Mello did it constantly. This time he had come back home--ha, Kio was really starting to believe he actually lived there--barking out orders to get him healed and fixed up. It wasn’t until two days later, when Mello was covered in bandages, that he learned he had been fucking blown up in a mafia fight of some sorts.
Honestly. Mafia? What else could Mello get himself into?!
So, there the chocolate-addict was, naked, scarred after two weeks of healing, on the couch, paranoid as all fuck. Then again, Mello had always slept with his gun…
Kio shook his head as he stood up and walked over to the sleeping explosion victim. Could he just not die…? He’d come back numerous times shot, wounded, bleeding, drunk (only once), and now a mafia leader who survived exploding himself, coming out with only large burns on his left side, which included his pretty face. At the moment, Mello’s head was resting on his left cheek, so the burns were hardly visible. But Kio knew they were there, and sighed.
“Take a bow, Mello, you’re invincible.” he said softly, squatting for a moment to kiss his cheek. He then wandered back to the kitchen, unaware that one hazel eye had fluttered open at the kiss.
“…take a bow, yourself. You’re one of the few who are able to put up with me…” Mello murmured softly, falling back to sleep as the words escaped his chapped lips.
