The mission wasn't going well.
An understatement: Anakin could still just count on one hand the number of team members he'd lost (rather, who had died -- because it wasn't his fault -- was it?), which was good because he needed the other to hold his insides, well, inside. It crossed his mind that maybe he shouldn't have been so reckless in jumping into the fight to save his sister -- maybe she would have been fine without his help -- but he immediately dismissed the thought. Maybe, maybe -- sure, and maybe if the Yuuzhan Vong leader had eaten something different for breakfast the day they were plotting galactic invasion, they might have picked some place else. What ifs were for people who couldn't accept responsibility and deal with the here and now.
Anakin was dealing. He was injured, yes, and pretty severely so (was that his spleen that just dragged against a rib? was that even possible?), but he could still walk.
... with a lot of help from the Force, but he could still walk. So he walked, and he kept up with the team, and he didn't let anyone know how badly things were really going. Not even Jacen, who would sense it anyway if he pried a little. He wasn't going to lose anyone else. He would not let that happen; he couldn't. They were relying on him to complete the mission, to get this done, and he'd let down enough people in this war already -- let enough people die.
He stumbled over a pebble and almost went down, wincing with the effort of staying upright. Way to go, Anakin. That's what you get for feeling sorry for yourself.
He flashed a reassuring grin in response to Tahiri's concerned look and waved her off. No problems here. None at all.
