booktown photos

May 04, 2010 22:37

we got up very early, so this was VERY NECESSARY

this is some new soccer stadium they are building in Richmond. When I get the train past it in the morning there are always men in fluoro abseiling down the sides.

it was a gloomy morning as we drove out of Melbourne

but we chirped up, Clunes was so enchanting!

we enter the town hall. instantaneous bookjoy

Clunes is really lovely, very old worldy colonial gold rush town

Thankfully, it got sunnier.

a girl took our photo in return for participating in a survey about our Booktown experience. thumbs up from the tourists.

many lovely baked goods were eaten. we had pies and then sweets (the pie was too messy to photograph!)

we became overwhelmed by books (I didn't want to interrupt people by taking too many photos in the bookstores) so entered an antique store. antique and hilarious shiny trunks!

punch and judy sent the children wild. they were giggling and laughing whenever punch did ANYTHING. this duo is so wrong, but they just love it!

up behind the police station this caped man was making up a story about/for this little girl while a young man illustrated the story. fun was had by all!

time to leave, we saw this written to draw people into the church, presumably where there were more books

further proof of just how beautiful Clunes was

I spotted this sign on the way there and requested a photoshoot on the way back. I had been doing an old time jig, but then heaps of cars started coming. caught midspeech.

we reached Melbourne in the twilight

these are our books.

There are a few more pictures on my flickr if you are interested enough to seek them out! Best Sunday I've had in a while.
