Haha, I love Fage, but not plain. I always throw some fruit in, or use it on place of sour cream.

I tried throwing stuff in the plain yogurt the first time around. It was still gross, but it tastes perfectly fine blended, hahaha.

I've heard of using it in place of sour cream, oil, butter, and other stuff as well. I love that it's so versatile.

For flavored greek yogurt, I go with Oikos. Chobani is really good but Oikos is thicker, creamier, and smoother. When I mix Chobani, it still has little lumps. It doesn't affect the taste but it's not as creamy as Oikos.

Ugh, I hated Fage the first (dozen) times I had it, too. I still don't see why people get so excited about it - there are better Greek yoghurts out there! But I was stuck with it for a couple weeks at someone else's kitchen, and I'm sort of used to it now. (Still too expensive to be my main yoghurt, though...) I will have to try adding the extra milk to it!

This might be good with honey in, too - I find that's about the only way I can take plain Fage. Though I guess it's not plain any more at that point...

My favorite is Oikos, followed by Chobani and at the bottom of the list is Fage in terms of flavored yogurts. Maybe plain Fage is an acquired taste. It's perfectly fine blended in a smoothie, but no matter what I dumped in the cup of the plain Fage, it was inedible.

Coconut cream or a can of good coconut milk left in a bowl overnight in the fridge would probably make a better vegan smoothie...or a frozen banana!

Now I wonder if I have any strawberries.

Yeah, that would probably work too. I'm vegetarian but I like that a lot of dishes can be modified for vegans.

IF you use frozen fruit then you don't need the ice. I prefer frozen berries, 1/2 frozen banana, almond milk and/or orange juice, and 1/2 cup of yogurt. Honey is good if you need the sweetening, plus it makes the drink smoother and creamier.
Tastes being what they are, I just like the full flavor of it without the ice.

I don't do honey. I heat the frozen fruit so that's why I added ice. The only way I can get it to blend properly is if I warm up the frozen strawberries in the microwave for a minute.

I use the Fage or other Greek Yogurt, but I mix it with cottage cheese, some type of flavored yogurt and some fresh blueberries and raspberries. The Greek yogurt, I don't like the flavor by itself, but doctored up, it is yummy and lots of protein.
