Hello veg*ns,
I'm looking to make a traditional granola, the kind that's available in stores, that's crunchy and sweet and not overly virtuous. Most of the granola recipes I can find start out by saying something like, "Back in 1970's our granola recipes were SHOCKING, full of oil and honey and nuts. We've dialed the calorie content way back..." I've tried those recipes, and they're totally disappointing.
The granola I want to make is not something I'd want to eat by the bowlful. I'm looking for crunchy, nutty nuggets of oat-candy that I can scatter on top of a fruit and yogurt parfait, or use in small amounts to perk up a bowl of a more virtuous cereal. Bonus points for maple syrup, pecans and/or flax seeds.
Anybody? TIA!
