Come soon, moon.

The ever cliche question has been on my mind these past few days of "Am I sad because I listen to sad music, or do I listen to sad music because I am sad?" I dont think I have been necessarily sad lately (with the exception of my near meltdown on monday, from which I seemed to have recovered rather quickly with the helpful insight of friends). The rest of my week had been going pretty well. No school on thursday, so rather fun hurricane party was to be had. It really was quite enjoyable and I seemed to had returned to my vibrant, lively self. So, I listened to Death Cab's "Transatlanticism" over and over on friday and I think it just may have set the mood for my spirits for the following few days. Ben Gibbard has this way of of creating these fantasy type stories that are vivid and beautiful and imaginationally stimulating and then relates them to whatever it is that is going on in his life. The lyrics afre as follows:

"The Atlantic was born today and I'll tell you how.
The clouds above opened up and let it out.
I was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere when the water filled every hole.
And thousands upon thousands made an ocean making islands where no island should go.

Those people were over-joyed. They took to their boats.
I thought it less like a lake, and more like a moat.
Th rhythm of my footseps crossing from lands to your door have been silenced forever more.
The distance is wuite simply much too far for me to row, it seems farther than ever before.

I need you so much closer, I need to so much closer.....so come on."

I dont know, you may think it is cheesy but his lyrics coupled with the stillness and fullness of the music just seems to touch me in a way that effects my mood. Not only because it is a sad picture but it also is worded so beautifully and amazingly to me. Anyway, I love it but at the same time hate it because it makes me feel I guess just so introspective with my thoughts. Which I guess can leave a person feeling more alone even though she definately is not.
