I drove a golf cart for the first time last week at work. Its things like that that make me love my job. Jeremy and I were assigned to check out Bay Valley and White Birch. So we joyrided around, collected golfballs, saw turtles, and got free dounuts. Friday I volunteered for the tire drive. Oh boy. I was supposed to be walking around with a clipboard taking information from people who dropped them off, but not even 15 minutes into it I found myself inside a semi trailer with the guys "jettisoning" and "slinging" tires. And I'm taking large, muddy, wires poking out, spiders, and green stanky water spewing out tires. It was disgusting, but once I was completely covered in dirt and it didnt matter it was fun whipping things around. As horrible and long as it was, everyone working was in a good mood and alot of funny things happened. We had our pizza party at 4, and I felt like I was back in highschool instead of at work lol. Awesome dessert too. Later on I was supposed to go to Aaron Clark's party, but Dan forgot to pick me up! He finally got me around 11:30 and we headed over. What was supposed to be a big party turned out to be like 8 people, but Becky Sabourin was there so I was happy. I've been wanted to hang out with her all summer, but now I find out she's leaving on Wednesday for Oklahoma City. She's one of the few females that share my interests and I connect with pretty easily...figures that she would be leaving. So it was laid back but fun. Guitar playing, a bonfire, and reminicing about old highschool stuff. Saturday was kind of rough. I had a hangover, which was news to me because I didn't feel like I had drank that much, but I guess its been about 2 or so months since I've done some drinking. So it was a chill day. Matt and I went cd shopping and watched some videos. Elephant I would recommend. Dorm Days...probably not. Sunday I did alot of organizing/cleaning. That night my family went to a reception dinner at the Double Tree Hotel by the River in Bay City. My Grandparents had a party for their 50th wedding anniversary. Steve and I dressed in all black not knowing what else to wear for dress clothes, and walked in to find everyone wearing khakis and polo shirts...so my uncle made some comment about us going to a funeral? So that made me feel dumb seeing as it is August and I was wearing all black and a sweater. Oh well. The food was awesome. My cousins are funny people. I would love to party with my cousin Chris sometime. Unknown to me there was a slideshow presentation. We all had baby pictures and pictures from summers at the farm. Weird to look back on. Grandpa was in a wheelchair because he broke his pelvis a couple weeks ago falling off a ladder. It was sad to see him like that. He looked so old. Looking around at my "little" cousins looking all grown up made me feel old. Everyone will be getting married before I know it. My uncle and grandma both asked why my boyfriend wasn't there. I had to tell them that he's not around anymore. Kind of weird that the last time I saw him was when I decided to introduce my family. I guess I thought he'd be around for a while.
I have to start updating every couple days instead of these novel length weekly posts. Aye.
