... just haven't been hanging around LJ so much lately.
Big things are happening all the time lately. Future altering things. Brian got accepted to the University of Colorado for grad school. He's going to get his PhD in Chemistry. They flew him there this weekend and he got wined and dined by the faculty. The school is in Boulder (hour drive from Denver) and is just a few miles from the base of the mountains. Mountains!! Hallelujah something else to look at besides cornfields! There is a big hippie/alternative scene there, very cultural with art shows, concerts and protests. There are also organic and vegetarian restaurants... so not just "Wow this is great they have restaurants with more than one meat free option!" but whole restaurants for people like me :) I've also looked up some things online and that area is #3 in the nation for graphic design salaries and employment. Brian is graduating in May and I will be finished in July after I take 2 spring classes. After that we are ready to move and start a new life. I am so excited to move out, begin my career, meet new people and get my own kitty.
I'm going to make my first freelance graphic design sale this week. Ray's Bike Shop in Midland is buying my brochure design for $150. The Theatre Department at SVSU is also using a logo of mine for their play "I Ought to be in Pictures". I applied last week for a full-time designer position at Morley in Saginaw. I'm not sure if I've got enough experience for what they want, but I'm really excited about the possibility. I know I'll be so good at what I do, a company just has to take a chance on me. But even if that doesn't work out I have a great job on campus doing web design that will be fine until I move.
I went with Brian to see Justin Timberlake 2 weekends ago. He really wanted to go and I agreed as long as he paid for my ticket. We went and it actually was a good show and now he's got me listening to his music. Pretty funny. This last Saturday Steve and I saw Brand New. It was amazing!. I actually thought that I would never see them live because they haven't done a national tour in all these years. But I've seen them and it was a very emotional experience for me. Their music reminds me of a few people that were a large part of my life that I don't talk to anymore and also just memories from the last 4 years. I sang along to every word and really connected to it. I also bought tickets to see Bright Eyes in May at the same small theatre.
Still no word on when Steve starts his border patrol academy and moves to New Mexico.
My parents sold the trailer up in Mio.
Scott and Stephanie are engaged now and getting married June 23rd!
That's all I can think of for now.
