Castiel’s by his side as they cremate Bobby’s body. As the flames oxidize the sky, he twines his fingers in Dean’s and the warmth spreads like wildfire. It’s not enough to soothe the ache, but it restrains his anger. Dean mumbles a prayer for his old friend and watches the fire steal another person he loves.
Castiel’s by his side as they learn about what happened in Detroit. His fingers are agile as they encircle around Dean’s wrist and find his open palm, but Dean only pulls away in agitation. No prayers are uttered, and Castiel’s shoved to the ground.
