L'Astra

If you have not eaten at L'astra yet, DO! I could talk about the pre-owner-pregnancy days when they served the most amazing lunch in town, but I will refrain because with their new concentration on dinner they have continued to make phnomenal food with their tiny under-construction kitchen and odd collection of cooking implements. Oh.. and then there is their vinyl collection, but just eat there and you will find out.

- manila clams steamed with mole salami, shallots, saffron and white wine
- lentil soup with salt pork
- warm fingerling potato and smoked salmon salad
- leek and cream tart, green salad
- confit of pork belly with grilled brioche
- grilled black pepper and garlic sausage with braised red cabbage
- roasted beet salad with marinated green beans and tangerine mayonnaise
- lamb loin chops served with celery root gratin and tarragon sauce
- gnocchi with gorgonzola and caramelized onion in a parsnip cream sauce
- quail stuffed with french horn mushrooms and served with pan-fried risotto milanese
- whole rabbit hindquarter in mustard sauce with yukon gold potatoes poached in duck fat
- handmade ravioli with foie gras and roasted butternut squash in a carrot-sage broth
- warm chocolate tart with white chocolate ice cream
- olive oil and prosecco cake with caramel and blood orange syrup
- cinnamon pots de creme

eat, good, portland, gluttony, food
