Company: Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism, Brandeis University Job Title: Program Administrator Description: Program Administrator RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Administrator will be responsible for a range of administrative tasks, and will respond to rapidly changing demands in a small high-energy office. Specific duties include such things as coordinating schedules and payroll for Institute staff and student research assistants; tracking and following up on requests to and requirements from internal Brandeis administrative functions (such as HR, payroll, or facilities); tracking budget expenditures and making sure bills are paid; ordering supplies; helping to prepare and coordinate the production and storage of Institute publications and promotional materials; tracking and administering contacts with funders and potential funders; helping to coordinate events; and otherwise assisting as new Institute requirements arise. Because this is such a small office, none of these intermittent tasks requires a great deal of time, but good organization skills are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be flexible, reliable, very organized, attentive to detail, and willing to adapt to quickly shifting deadlines. Must be a self-starter who can both work independently and knows when to ask for direction as needed. Requires comfort and familiarity with basic software programs (MS, Outlook Express, MS Excel), office technology, and the web. Requires a willingness to learn to use new software and hardware (printers, flash drives, scanners) as needed for work products, including the website, and to interact with Tech Services to support these. (Knowledge of PowerPoint, PhotoShop, Adobe GoLive, and FilemakerPro a plus.) Must have excellent interpersonal and telephone skills. Must be attentive to correct spelling, punctuation, and other writing/publication details. Knowledge of financial principles and reporting; experience with database development and management; knowledge of basic website construction; training in Adobe GoLive; experience with hardware and software support, and information systems management. Associate's degree required. Bachelor¿s degree preferred. Three-five years of supervisory/management experience.
