OH MAN. this has to be my favorite food experience ever. i was studying in florence italy and craved it like no other. go down to fairfax blvd. (like fairfax and pico) to get really really good ethiopian food in little ethiopia. there is a totally vegan one listed on happycow.net but i haven't gone there. i typically go to messobs, which has a vegetarian platter for like ten bucks. be aware there's one that's just four menu items, or there's a combo plate that comes with drink and dessert i think, but i'm not aware if the dessert is vegan, since i never get it. you get extra bread (called injera) and you pick up a little of the stew with a piece of bread. so delicious and warming. you can find the address by googling- www.vegparadise did a review of it as well, and it might be on happycow.net. my dad likes the beer but i've never tried it.

there is an indian restaurant on sunset (but way down at the other end, towards silverlake) called parus. not everything is vegan, but they can tell you which is which. the samosas and dal soup are so so good. they are really friendly. there are like, bars on the outside of the restaurant so it looks really shady when you go. but you get buzzed in and it's like a garden paradise with flowers and trees and hanging lights. i definitely recommend sitting outside.

i think...that's it. i'll write with more if i think of it. if you have more questions, you can email me at misslongstocking@sbcglobal.net

the last time i went for ethiopian food, my friend and i got out of there for thirty dollars exactly. we both ordered the vegan combo plate, and i tip well, so that should be about your price range.

i haven't been to parus in a while but it's not too expensive, probably about 8 or 10 for an entree.

where are you staying in la? and have fun!!
