I tend to share your point of view...i can't really judge what someone does during pregnancy; the one time i was pregnant i couldn't eat ANYTHING...everything made me want to puke.
She's still doing better than most consumers out there. Most people I run into don't even make a conscious decision about the products they consume, let alone maintain a principle toward them. I'm not fit to judge Portman; just so long as I know she is thinking clearly about her choices, that's enough for me.
Agreed. While not "ideal", I think it's better for example for someone to cut animal products out of his/her life life even one day a week. At least it demonstrates that you are thinking through things - ethical, health, etc., and shows effort. Everyone can always try harder, but who am I to belittle that effort?
I don't care what Natalie Portman does, but it's annoying how these types of articles always make it sound like being vegan is this impossible feat that few people can accomplish. Every time a celebrity "falls off the vegan wagon", there is always this article that seems to say, "Told ya it was too hard!"
I didn't know Lea Michele (from Glee) was vegan, though. It's nice that they made her character vegan as well.

Ugh, this! These articles always make me want to scream that veganism is NOT some ridiculous, impossible feat. I've been vegan for 8 years and other people have been vegan for decades. It's really not that hard.
(This is also the reaction I have when people tell me they "admire" me for being vegan but that they could never do it. Aaaagh. Of course, I usually just politely nod and say that it's not as hard as you think, but I find this to be one of the most annoying comments that people make when finding out I'm vegan.)
Yeah, it's nice to be "admired" but I also feel frustrated when I get that response. I was vegetarian for a long time before I went vegan, and heard it a few times over the years. It's especially baffling coming from people who live in San Francisco, which has no lack of vegetarian and vegan options.
