This saturday I'll be running an info table for
Vegan Outreach at an environmental fair at my college. The focus of the fair is on ways to reduce one's impact on the environment - which is great, except for the fact that that's one of the aspects of veganism that I'm not all that familiar with.
What I'm looking for is a site or sites that I can pull a few soundbite-type facts and statistics from, regarding the various environmental consequences of large-scale animal agriculture. I'm also looking for sources for the "standard" talking points - it takes X amount of grain/water/land to produce X amount of meat, etc.
Unfortunately, I'm expecting to encounter quite a few "justifiers" at this event. You know, the folks who use the fact that they only buy "free range/cage-free/pasture-raised/organic/grass-fed/etc" products to justify their continued support of the meat industry. To counter this, I'd love to have the ability to provide the actual realities of what those various terms mean in regards to how to animals are actually treated.
Thanks so much in advance!
