Edgar's Mission

I went to Edgar's Mission today (Melbourne-ish, Australia). It's a sanctuary for rescued farm animals which promotes veganism and abolition.

The majority are. I think there are a few that come from individual's that decided they didn't want them anymore or from places where they didn't meet the "industry standard" (e.g. there's a horse there that was meant to be a racing horse but was too "weedy looking". He was meant to be killed the day they picked him up) and a few of the pigs there are from the movie Charlotte's Web. I think they stepped in there because 1) who knows where they would have ended up and 2) it gives them a bit of an angle to advertise from. For example, if kids/adults have seen the movie and then find out they're there it may get them to visit or become involved when they might not have otherwise.

The Sydney Vegan Bake Sale, which takes place this Saturday, 24 April, is donating all funds to Edgar's Mission! Details at the link.

Lovely photos - thanks for posting. I also liked the comment about "playing favourites" on that welcome sign.

That's really cool. I think I remember one of the people who was making announcements saying that they were short of funding at the moment so that should really help. Have fun at the bake sale! I assume you're going lol.
