UK: battery eggs passed off as 'free range' and 'organic'

It's good that this nasty piece of work has been sentenced to three years in prison. This quotation from the prosecuting barrister annoyed me though:

Amanda Pinto QC said: "The victims of Keith Owen's false accounting were not only the direct customers of Heart of England, but also the public, as well as the legitimate egg producers."
...and the chickens in all this?
