Careers (sorry for the tl;dr)

I did look through the memories/tags and I'm sure I probably missed something, but I didn't see anything about this, so...

My backstory: I graduated in May with a bachelors degree in Family Studies. My degree is basically useless unless I plan to get a Masters (at least it feels that way!) I had originally intended to go back to get a masters in School Counseling, but honestly, my heart just isn't in it. I already owe $80,000 on student loans and don't really want to rack up a ton more debt for something that just doesn't inspire me.

My question: I have always been interested in a career working with animals (why I didn't go this route in the first place is beyond me) and I'm seriously considering going to school for Animal Studies (or something along these lines... maybe biology? Something to do with animal advocacy?) I'm seriously clueless about the whole thing as I had never even HEARD of an "Animal Studies" degree until today... I am especially interested in anything to do with advocacy!

Has anyone here gone to school to get a degree related to working with animals? (I'm not talking about veterinary or anything medical.) Any advice on how to get started? Good programs? Bad programs? I don't even know... I am clueless! Any help/info is appreciated!! Thanks!
