Flying Ants?!

I recently moved to Ohio, so I haven't had this problem before. We have A LOT of flying ants collecting on our back door. I get up before dawn, which is when I noticed them. I'm assuming they're attracted to the light of our back stoop? Problem is they get all over the back door, then in the house, etc. when I let the pets out. Obviously I don't wan to kill them. Is there any (pet-safe,  people-safe, earth-safe) way to attract them back out/away from the door??
