Hey all!
I just wanted to mention a book I just finished reading called Green Chic by Christie Matheson.
It is not entirely related to veganism, but about being more green in your choices (which I think many people who chose to be vegan are also concerned with the impact of their other choices on the planet).
I think it is a great resource to learn how to reduce personal CO2 emissions, and it has a whole ton of info on what products to buy or where to buy products that are a much greener earth friendly alternative (such as clothing made from bamboo or shade grown cotton, cards and wrapping paper made from hemp or post-consumer paper, and green cleaning products).
While not entirely vegan in concept (i.e. she mentions which fish are better to eat, or designers that use silk because it is a renewable resource), I think it is a good read and she even mentions many products I have seen mentioned here as brands carrying vegan products. But I think the non-vegan portions of this book could be helpful to anyone with omni friends or family who need help making 'greener' choices.
It is also slightly geared more toward women with the mention of cosmetics, toiletries, accessories, and I am unsure if many of the clothing designers she mentions would have a menswear line, but there are many more portions of this book a man, or a woman not into fashion and makeup, could find useful as well.
Plus the book is printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper and printed with vegetable based inks, how cool!
Anyways, I hope this is appropriate for this community and if any of you pick up this book I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
