jumps racing decision

May 18, 2009 16:25

Jumps racing in Victoria is not going to be banned.

The new changes are useless and I hate everybody, including the commenters who applaud the decision because jumps racing is part of Melbourne's "rich tapistry".

Grrr.

I'm sorry, but Melbourne's "rich tapestry"? I'm sorry but Australia was founded by people who screwed over the indigenous population, they have no right to have any sort of tapestry.

The history excuse is always laughable. "The past is awesome, at least this list of parts of which I approve." Ugh.

Oh no. I'm sure a lot of people approve of the other parts.
I mean, it's not ~our~ fault, dontcha know?

That's going on my quotations page. (I assume you don't mind.)

Also, I think maybe jumps racing will go before too long (in the colloquial sense of "before too long" - obviously 5 minutes is really too long). See http://andrewbartlett.com/?p=7204 for some notes on the history.

Aw, shucks. If I'd known I would have tried to be more lyrical, but I wrote 4,000 other words today and I've just about run out of fancy.

Hey, you can't get onto my quotations page deliberately. Life ain't like that.

What did you write 4,000 words on?

excuse me, australians have no right to any sort of tapestry???
wtf...just like all white people in the us, i guess.
at least we have taken responsibility for and apologised for what the white man did to the native population.
i'm a little offended by this comment.

I'm glad that Australia is making it up to the indigenous population.

Now that I've eaten and I'm feeling a little clearer of mind, I have to agree with what neko_loliighoul said. Using that kind of logic, I don't think there's many places on the entire planet that could claim any kind of tapestry. We're all trying to make up for the past, but writing off Australia like that is not a good way to go about it.

I'm betting you're American, right?

So let's remember what your people did to the American indigenous population and to the blacks they imported to be their slaves, who were raped, beaten, killed, etc.

You might want to think before you attack another person's country.
