Asheville, North Carolina

Next week is my girls' Spring Break, and we are going down to Asheville, North Carolina for a few days.  I've never been to the Biltmore Estate.  I thought we would do that and some hiking in the area.  I've read that there are some vegetarian restaurants there.  I'm vegan and my daughters are lacto-ovo.  I plan on staying at a hotel and enjoying ( Read more... )

Hey! Yeah, Asheville, i have some family down there! There's this one restauant that's really vegan friendly. It's in the center of town, but I cannot for the life of me remember what its called. I think its something like "Seeds." I bet the concierge, or someone around town will know!

Good luck, if I think of it, I'll let you know. I know this is an entire cop out for a comment, totally unhelpful!

The Laughing Seed! It's absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. So's Rosetta's Kitchen, check that one out too.

I'm thinking that I'll park down town at least one day in order to shop and eat. I am definitely going to go that laughing seed place. I've already looked at the menu on-line. Thanks!

The biltmore told me they don't do vegan.

I loved Rosetta's and ate there three times.

I recommend checking out the movie theater there with the restaurant in it. they sometimes have kids movies. It's cheap and AWESOME!

What, they don't do vegan? In a town like Asheville? I actually almost booked a room inside the Biltmore Estate, yesterday. They have a special going; stay two nights and get the third or free. But I didn't because my kids are much more interested in staying somewhere with an indoor pool than a ritzy ditzy hotel. So I will certainly save my pennies and stay somewhere else. I'll eat somewhere else too. We'll just make sure we eat well when we go in and stuff some granola bars in our pockets.

I saw an interview with Rosetta last night, and my mouth practically started watering. Yum!

Thank you so much for the movie theater tip. I''l have to look that up too.

Wow, the more I learn about this city, the more I'm thinkin' I might cry when it's time to go home. It's almost like, the heck with the Biltmore, maybe I'll just spend three days strolling around the city, talking to people, and eating. Can you believe I've lived less than six hours driving distance away from Ashville for over twelve years, in rural Kentucky hell, and have never made it over there? (The land itself isn't hell, but most of the people around here are like the complete opposite of me.) We've been to Gatlinburg a couple of times and it totally sucks trying to find something good to eat in that town. It's weird cuz it's just over the mountains from Asheville ( ... )
