Well, normally I use Earth Balance for my buttery spread needs but my mom recently bought Smart Balance's new product called Heart Right Light Buttery Spread. On the package, it's labeled as vegan at the bottom. But luckily my cousin happened to be reading the ingredients, which begin, "Water, natural oil blend (palm fruit, soybean, fish, canola and olive oils)."
I could not even find the product listed on their website, which makes me think this is a new product and they have simply overlooked the fact that they have added ingredients to it, changing from the original Light product to the Heart Right Light product, making it not vegan. Still, the packaging clearly says VEGAN! I'm so angry. Is it even legal to incorrectly label such things?! I'm going to contact them about it but I really feel like I want to sue them, to be honest. If my cousin had not read the ingredients, I would have consumed a FISH product, which isn't even VEGETARIAN, let alone vegan, but they have marketed the product as vegan!
Just a heads up.... and if anyone wants to contact Smart Balance about it, so it really catches their attention, please feel free!
